Our Tallow Sunscreen offers natural, broad-spectrum sun protection equivalent to SPF 30+*. Free from harmful chemicals like oxybenzone and octinoxate, this mineral-based formula is gentle on your skin and safe for the environment. Crafted with non-nano zinc oxide, it sits on the skin's surface, reflecting harmful UVA and UVB rays without penetrating deep into the skin. This means superior protection without chemical absorption.

Comes in two versions! 

Regular, which contains tallow, jojoba oil, beeswax and non-nano zinc (22%).

This sunscreen will show up white on the skin and is best suited for light skin complexions.

We're excited to also offer a tinted version, which contains organic cocoa powder. Perfect for people with darker skin tones or if you wear makeup.

How to use

Simply run your finger over the surface of the balm and gently massage it onto your skin. A small amount goes a long way! Like with any non-nano zinc product, you want it to be visible on the skin to be effective as the zinc acts as a physical barrier.

For best results, apply 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply every 2 hours or after swimming.

How to store

Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct heat. During warmer months, store in a cool area or refrigerate if needed. The consistency of tallow may vary with temperature, becoming softer in summer and firmer in winter—this is a sign of its purity!

I want to love it! While it is super moisturising… I can’t get past the scent and the thick texture makes it really hard to use across your whole body for full protection in the sun. I feel like I’d go through the jar very quickly if I had to apply enough for the zinc to still be visible to ensure sun protection. My boyfriend attempted this and got very burnt so make sure you apply as per instructions. I am all for all natural safe sunscreen so happy to try anything out there - keep it up guys!

As we use non-nano zinc, it is important that it isn't spread too thin. Like other zinc products, it is most suitable for forearms, face and other exposed areas while full body coverage may be a bit more involved.

If the slight tallow/zinc smell does bother you, then I would recommend our tinted version which smells like chocolate :)

Best Zinc Sun Protection I’ve found!

So easy to apply unlike many zinc based sunscreens, provides great protection and is even good for the families skin. Can’t beat it.

good sun protection, slight issue

I've used other tallow based suncreams before. Ths one is easy to apply and provides moderately good sun protection. Only issue is slight 'beef' smell which is probaly a tallow purification issue and might explain the slightly lower price.

Working wonders for my Skin

I have acne and usually zinc makes it worse but this actually seems to be improving my skin. I use the tinted when I am out with friends and the white one when im at the beach.
